A few weeks ago Jonny Knives submitted his song "clown fish" (which you can peep below) to be aired on Eminem's very own radio station "SHADE 45" on Sirius / XM radio. Not just anyone is chosen to have their song played on the station's "Hate It or Love It" show, but it seems that amongst the thousand+ songs rappers uploaded to be aired on the show; Jonny Knives' "Clown Fish" was one of them.. Basically during the show they play songs that artists have submitted and the listeners can call in and say if they hate the song or love it.. We'll keep ya'll posted when it will be played on the station.. in the mean time check it out below.. I don't see how anyone could hate it. If you don't love it you must be deaf.. btw the track was produced, mixed and recorded by Jonny himself.. peep game and be sure to call in shade45 and give your feedback!!! (date will be up soon)

Vinyl Workshop Vol...1
Check out Jonny Knive's side project the "Vinyl Workshop Vol. 1"
It's basically an instrumental teaser produced all by Mr. Knives himself, it contains crazy record sliced/chopped sampled type beats with a very experimental vibe, yet it still has that crispy, rugged, hip hop sound that can only attained through the akai mpc. Check it out.. all tracks were produced using the mpc 5000 and a record player to sample all the sounds..
P.S. Shout out to our teacher Rich "Mixer" Ott who was our mentor as well as a great audio engineer/teacher who taught us a lot during school but also donated Jonny and I a huge amount of vinyl records for free before graduation.. Without those records this project wouldn't have been possible..
Which reminds me, I haven't crate dug in a long ass time or made any sample type beats in a minute.. i needa hop on that..

#newTunes Jonny Knives "Lies N Regret"
There comes a point in everyone's life when you get fucked over, screwed, or stabbed in the back by your best friends, the person you love the most, or even family. It happens to the best of us, it totally blows when we encounter situations like these.. unfortunately it is reality and we as people have to come to terms with it and face it. Some people runaway, some people act like it doesn't phase them at all, some people cry and try to find an explanation for it all. The great thing about being a musician; (whether your an emcee / rapper, producer, guitarist, song writer etc) is that we tend to take all that negative anger and emotional bullshit and use it as motivation to help us get through the tough times.. It's usually when artists make their best songs or albums ever when they are going through some shit... I know when I'm pissed off or upset I tend to unleash all my negative emotions through my beats that way I don't take it out on the people / things around me. Anyways my homey Jonny Knives released another song today about what he's going through currently.. subject matter like this is what separates the emcee's from the "rappers." Most rappers 'rap' about the same shit (hustling, money, being gangsta etc) and don't ever get deep with they're songs.. so if you fall in that category peep this track and take notes:
this track was not only written by Mr. Knives himself but he also did the beat production as well as mixed/recorded it. (this song was a spur of the moment, we are not sure if it is or will be on "The Tree-house Slasher Flick" mix-tape or any other upcoming project at all)

#dopeMIXTAPE A$AP ROCKY's 'LIVE.LOVE.A$AP'
So it's been a while since I have actually used this blog for other stuff that's not am:pm related... for this post I decided to give props to an upcoming rapper in the game that I've been following for a few months now, and homey is definitely making big moves.
If you haven't yet, you MUST peep/download the upcoming Harlem MC's free promotional mix tape titled "LIVE.LOVE.ASAP" by A$AP Rocky.. The project features not so many "big names" in the game as far as rappers, but he definitely showed love and kept it real with his team collaborating with other A$AP members to give them some shine. The Harlem native got his buzz when he released a music video called "PURPLE SWAG" in the beginning of July 2011, then later releasing another video called "PESO" (which was released in 8/10/2011) - both tracks were produced by the lil' homey "Ty Beats" who is only 15 I believe and the youngest member in the clique, and both of the videos have only been out for a few months and are already reaching 1 million views on YouTube.
Rocky pays homage to the Huston music scene in 'purple swag' and if you peep the full mix tape you can definitely tell the dude got hella love for the south even though he was born and raised in Harlem. He's is a super versatile emcee; one verse he'll spit some ill bone thugs influenced wordplay then switch up slow, then fast.. the dude got a crazy style, not your average NY rapper.
Production on this project is crazy! Beat production ranges from the infamous ATL dj; DJ Burn One, to A$AP member Ty Beats, Olympicks, and other ill cats who have done production for Lil B and other credible artists. Although being a NY emcee Rocky delivers different styles throughout the whole project using all types of beats.. I guess you can say all the tracks have a "dirty south" influence, but trust me.. they ain't your average south beats.
Dude is hella original, innovative, and overall he just being his damn self.. and it's awesome seeing artists who go against the grain when it comes to music.. some artists succumb to being mainstream industry bitches and others rise and make their own music and still get mainstream status and exposure. I love seeing young independent artists on the grind, it's very inspirational and motivational.
Since his exposure Rocky has been able to link up with major artists from Harlem such as Jim Jones (from dipset) and Smoke DZA, as well as one of the sickest producers known as "aRabMuzik" who produces for dipset.
overall I give the mixtape a 7.9/10

Jonny Knive's next project being pushed back..
We decided to push back "The Treehouse Slasher Flick" mixtape by Jonny Knives. We were going to release it on 11.11.11, but we decided to push it back sometime in February. Jonny and I decided that we were going to need more time to finish the project at it's fullest potential. All the beats are done for it, and we want to make sure the mix/quality of the project is on point... "Just Kidding" had various volumes on different songs, and we hated that we had to release it like that (due to losing the final mixes because Jonny's hard-drive crashed the day before the project's release).
Myself (Mark K), will be dropping another free beat tape titled "Experimentalism" in the next month or 2 (at the latest). This project will contain only about 5-9 tracks with all of them having a different/experimental feel to them.
SUMS will be dropping his first beat tape "ZERO GRAVITY" soon, the release date has not been decided yet.
We are working on tons of stuff.. thats just the shit we are letting everyone know about so far.. stay tuned
p.s. thanks for all the love we got from "instrumentality" and "just kidding"

MARK K'S "INSTRUMENTALITY" BEAT TAPE
AM:PM team member Mark K shows you his daily thoughts, moods, and mentalities through this project, which is why it is titled "Instrumentality". You (the listener) gets to see what goes on through this kid's head by hearing his mentality through instrumentals (if that makes any f***ing sense??) Anyways the tape has all types of beats from gritty south beats, to experimental stuff, to underground/sample based beats, club bangers, mellow type stuff and more. So check out it below and download it in full and bump that ish everywhere.
***This is a free project released by AM:PM Inc. All tracks were produced and mixed by Mark K himself. Artists and listeners may download the beat tape for free.. pop it in the whip and cruise with the homeys while ciphering, sit back burn one and enjoy the tunes, or if your an artist; record over the instrumentals with your vocals and create a song for your upcoming albums/mixtapes/whatever.. as long as it's non commercial.
Artists using the beats on "Instrumentality" may only use them for PROMOTIONAL/NON PROFITABLE USE. Full / exclusive rights to the instrumentals are still owned by Mark K.
Production Credit must be given by artist if any of the selected beats contain no watermark/voice tag/voice signature on them.

OFFICIAL DROP DATES FOR NEXT PROJECTS
What's up? We were really excited to see such a great response from the "Just Kidding" mixtape. Within the first week we had over 1,000 downloads and almost 200 likes on facebook. Which is pretty good to us considering the little promotion we had done and the fact that it has only been about 6 months since Jonny and I started the label and made the company official.. We've been hitting the studio hard; creating music and collecting video footage for the upcoming you tube channel. So expect to see a lot more content on this site soon. It's nice to see a lot of hard working independent artists taking advantage of the world wide web to promote their music, which is exactly what we plan to do.
On 10/11/11 Mark K's "Instrumentality" will be available through free download - the project contains about 20 instrumental tracks that can be used by other artists for promotional/non commercial use, or if you're a listener just simply light one up (or whatever it is you do), sit back, relax, and enjoy.
Jonny Knives' next mixtape is dropping 11/11/11, which is titled "The Tree House Slasher Flick". The project has sort of a dark vibe to it with a nasty arsenal of gritty/southern sounding beats. We will be releasing a lot of studio footage through you tube which will showcase the recording sessions of some of the tracks prior to the drop date. This will also be available through free download.
Stay tuned and keep movin' w/ the movement. Peace.
